Welcome to this breathtaking journey along Hadrian’s Wall, where history, natural beauty, and the joy of exploration converge to create an unforgettable walking holiday experience. Nestled in the stunning landscapes of Northern England, Hadrian’s Wall stands as an iconic testament to the Roman Empire’s influence on this region. Embark on a captivating adventure as you traverse the ancient stone fortifications that once marked the northernmost boundary of the Roman Empire.

The Hadrian’s Wall Path is an 84 mile (135 Km) long National Trail stretching coast to coast across northern England, from Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne in the east to Bowness-on-Solway on the west coast. This World Heritage Site invites you to step back in time and walk in the footsteps of Roman soldiers who once patrolled these historic fortifications. Your walking holiday along Hadrian’s Wall promises a unique blend of cultural immersion and outdoor exploration.  The trail takes you through picturesque countryside, charming villages, and captivating archaeological sites, providing a perfect fusion of nature and history.

As you embark on this journey, be prepared to encounter remnants of Roman settlements, milecastles, and turrets that tell tales of a bygone era. The wall’s strategic location along the rolling hills of Northumberland, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Pennines, Lake District fells and Scotland and the meandering paths along the River Tyne. Each step on this historic route offers a chance to connect with the past while relishing the tranquility and splendour of the present-day English countryside.

Whether you’re an avid history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply someone seeking a rejuvenating escape, a walking holiday along Hadrian’s Wall promises an immersive experience like no other. Let the ancient stones guide your way as you explore the rich tapestry of landscapes and stories that unfold along this iconic Roman frontier. Lace up your walking boots, embrace the spirit of adventure, and get ready to create lasting memories on a journey through the heart of history.

At the end of each day you will arrive at your accommodation with a choice of pubs and restaurants for dinner. After breakfast, its time to head out onto the trail with your Virtual Guide on a GPS route for guidance and keeping you informed of points of interest along the way. In the meantime your bags will be transferred to your next overnight accommodation and will be ready for your arrival.

What’s Included:

This walking holiday is ideal for the independent adventurer looking to escape either on their own, with a partner, family or group of friends where you all can reconnect and enjoy great walking, food, drinks and friendly accommodation.

With excellent transport links from London to Newcastle and Carlisle, this walking holiday is easy to travel to.

This walking break is flexible and available on a date to suit you (subject to availability)  and additional nights are available if you would prefer to enjoy this route at a more leisurely pace). As a guide, our 6 day walking itinerary averages about 16 miles per day walking. We strongly advise booking your trip in advance as places are limited. The trail can be enjoyed all year round, however out of season from the end of October to March, there may be a small supplement for luggage moves, which will be moved by taxi rather than our usual luggage courier.

Prices are based on a ‘from’ price, depending on accommodation type and availability. Accommodation is based on two sharing an en-suite room, staying on a bed & breakfast basis (single accommodation is available at a supplement). When selecting the accommodation we work with helpful, friendly hosts with good quality, characterful accommodation as close to the trail as possible. Our preference is to provide en suite accommodation, however in some of the more remote locations accommodation is limited and occasionally we may have to book rooms with shared bathrooms or accommodation further off the trail and which may require additional transport, but we will always let you know if this is likely to be the case.On booking you will receive a fully detailed itinerary, type of accommodation and a price quote. Your lunch and evening meal isn’t included in the package, but we include full details and recommendations for each meal option in your itinerary. You will normally be within walking distance of a pub, restaurant or at your accommodation and will make recommendations based on our knowledge of the area. We suggest budgeting an additional £30 per day per person for lunch and dinner.

With your bag transfers all taken care of, all you need to concentrate on savouring the views of the glorious corner of the country and putting one foot in front of the other. You can have complete confidence that we will take care of your every need.

We take the time to find out more from you about the experience you would like, the things you enjoy and your travel plans. We then use our passion, experience and local knowledge of the area to craft an itinerary just for you.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss your booking in more detail and we would be delighted to share our knowledge and passion for this stunning area with you to help ensure you have the perfect trip.
