Richard Betts is Adventure Director and our Lead Guide – he has a passion for the outdoors which is incredibly infectious. With over 25 years outdoors experience as a guide and trainer both in the UK and Internationally, he loves nothing more than immersing himself in the countryside and sharing his knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm for the outdoors. He is a qualified International Mountain Leader and and spent over 15 years in the Fire Service. In his spare time he volunteers for Search Dogs Sussex and is a Community First Responder. Being much in demand as an outdoor instructor and leader, if he has any time left he enjoys rock climbing and trail running!
Kirstie Betts has grown up in the Sussex countryside. She loves the natural environment and her absolute passion is enabling anyone to connect with the world outside the office or classroom. Kirstie trained as a Walking Group Leader but with her background in education, occupational therapy and psychotherapy – she is an avid supporter of nature and fresh air providing a fantastic learning experience, huge health benefits and spiritual well-being for all.
Dave Powell is our very talented professional photographer and photojournalist. A keen traveller at heart, he has had the privilege of visiting many amazing places throughout the world. His professional career was spent working within the police force and during this time his passion for photography developed. Now retired, Dave is delighted that his hobby is now his career. Dave is also a qualified trainer, outdoor instructor and holds a certificate in Education.
Mick Lewin is a popular staff member (particularly with our younger adventurers). He has worked within the Fire Service for over 18 years as part of the UK Search and Rescue team, as a watch manager and as a qualified trainer. Mick therefore brings a great deal of specialist knowledge and expertise to his role within PATA, which when combined with his passion for the outdoors produces an enthusiastic member of our team….with a cheeky sense of humour too!
Charlotte Couldwell is our yoga instructor, helping to align the benefits of mindful movement and meditation with the joy of being in nature. Charlotte has been practicing yoga for more than a decade and is a certified 200 hour teacher with the Yoga Alliance UK. She teaches Hatha Flow yoga, incorporating postures with breathing techniques and relaxation.
